DirectX 9.0 includes security and performance updates, along with many new features across all technologies, which can be accessed by applications using the DirectX 9.0 APIs. This release also resolves an issue with multiplayer games. A number of minor bugs were also resolved. Windows 95 users should continue using DirectX 8.0a. Applications designed from DirectX 8.1 on take advantage of advanced features in recent versions of Windows, including Windows 98 and later versions. DirectX 9.0 also does not support Windows 95.
